KiwiTech Announces Strategic Partnership with Nonprofit Makeda Foundation
Aimed to drive sustainable economic and social growth for Black founders
NEW YORK, May 18, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- KiwiTech, LLC, a leading innovation ecosystem that helps startups build viable products, drive traction, and raise capital, announced a strategic partnership with Makeda Foundation, a nonprofit organization empowering women and helping reduce gender disparities in Africa.
As part of this partnership, KiwiTech will collaborate with Makeda Foundation to accelerate the growth of emerging tech-for-social-good startups in Africa by supporting them on their digital transformation journey. KiwiTech will also support the Makeda Foundation and its vision by introducing the organization's partner startups to KiwiTech's global network of investors, advisors and mentors.
"We're privileged and proud to join hands with the Makeda Foundation. We firmly believe that supporting organizations like Makeda Foundation that help tech startups that strive to bring about positive and measurable social changes is our primary responsibility," said Mohsin Syed, EVP and Chief Startup Officer of KiwiTech. "We look forward to sharing our extensive tech and entrepreneurial expertise with startups supported by Makeda Foundations to help them create viable products that bring about positive change and shape a better future for Africa."
"Makeda Foundation is a nonprofit organization that enables rising and aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and/or enhance online solutions that empower disadvantaged women in Sub-Saharan Africa. It achieves this by creatively connecting them to foreign markets to expand their value chain. The ultimate goal is to give them a global reach to sell locally made products to unleash new sources of revenue for the women founders that can in turn, drive access to education, healthcare, financial resources, and employment to help improve their livelihood and wellbeing," said Lynda Hazoume, Founder of Makeda Foundation.
"We are delighted to join hands with KiwiTech and believe that this partnership will help us in realizing our mission and help drive sustainable economic and social growth in Africa," Lynda added.
Celebrating this partnership, KiwiTech recently held an exclusive virtual pitch event, Black Entrepreneurs Matter Demo Day in collaboration with Makeda Foundation, where promising Black startups, including Marble Stitches from Makeda's cohort, pitched their innovations to an audience comprising angel investors and VC funds from KiwiTech's network. KiwiTech launched its quarterly Black Entrepreneurs Matter Demo Day series last year to support Black-led startups and help them bridge the funding gap.
