Livability.com Announces the 5 Best Cities for Freelance Workers in 2020
New list ranks the best small to midsize cities for freelance work opportunities in the United States.
FRANKLIN, Tenn., Jan. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- While freelancing is expected to make up the majority of the U.S. workforce by 2027, recent pieces of legislation across the country have placed new restrictions on employers and created scrutiny on the field. On January 1, 2020, California Assembly Bill 5 went into effect, making it difficult, yet not impossible, for companies to hire freelancers as independent contractors in the hopes of transitioning them into full-time employees with benefits. Several other states, including New York, New Jersey and Illinois, are expected to follow in California's footsteps.
When compiling this list, Livability.com compared cities across the country with moving incentives, low tax rates, high percentages of freelance workers and amenities for when you're in between projects. From this data, Livability created a list of the 5 most freelancer-friendly cities across the country.
