Living A Life with God Through all Hardships and Challenges
Author shares inspiring story of a young family in 1970's Georgia
CANTONMENT, Fla., Sept. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Jacquelyn B. Smith tackles the issues of racism, single parenthood, and poverty in her first book, "Saved for Ben: Book 1." Part of a larger series, this story begins in Georgia in August of 1972, around the time that schools were initially integrated in the south. Readers are introduced to protagonist Ben Davis, who is being raised alongside his younger sister and brother by their widowed mother.
In this powerful coming of age story, Ben is offered unexpected opportunities through his first employer and mentor. Through these opportunities Ben starts to discover just what God has saved for him.
"God gave me the gift of writing," Smith said. "He put this story in my mind so that I could use my gift to inspire others and share God's message. I woke up one day and it was like God had downloaded the book into my head, it was like watching a movie in my mind. I had to get it down on paper and share it."
Smith draws upon her own experiences from living in Georgia in the 1970's to bring real elements to her writing. In her book, she aims to draw readers in with genuine and captivating issues. Her desire is to make them forget that they are reading a fictional story.
"I want people to read my book and feel inspired to make a difference," Smith said. "The book is full of love, hope, life lessons, and guidance. It is heartwarming and family focused. It will make you laugh, cry, and teach you about what it means to leave a legacy."
