Published since 1952, this important alloy resource produced by ASM is now a searchable online database for materials scientists, engineers, and technicians worldwide.
MATERIALS PARK, Ohio, Aug. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ASM International is proud to announce that its leading information source for commercial and standard alloys, Alloy Digest, is now digital and offers all of its valuable content online through the ASM Digital Library.
This launch provides readily accessible online access to more than 6,200 data sheets on the most widely used industrial alloys from steels to cast irons to aluminum alloys and more. This information is relied on by materials scientists, engineers, and technicians worldwide to find and compare compositions, properties, and processing details for current and legacy alloys as an aid to alloy selection or treatment, component manufacturing, and failure analysis. Each monthly "issue" consists of 10, two-page datasheets in a standardized format.

Alloy Digest, first published in 1952 and acquired by ASM in the mid-90s, provides key data sheets with facts and figures on composition and product forms, physical and mechanical properties, heat treatment, and machinability. The data sheets are consistently formatted, facilitating comparisons based on specific characteristics. For the past 68 years, Alloy Digest has been offered as printed and mailed datasheets, which subscribers organized in binders.
Now within the highly discoverable platform of the ASM Digital Library, data on alloys can be searched and filtered based on a user's needs and specific selection criteria. Alloy Digest on the ASM Digital Library provides a cost-efficient, annually renewable subscription model for existing and new subscribers.
Existing subscribers will continue to receive their printed and mailed Alloy Digest through the end of 2020 and also are eligible to receive access to the digital database through the term of their subscription. Subscription renewals will be to the fully digital version. New subscribers can access the digital publication by completing this form. The new Alloy Digest digital product will be led by Mr. Nayar, who has published several books on metals selection and testing, including The Steel Handbook (Tata McGraw-Hill, India, 2002). In addition to his work on Alloy Digest, Mr. Nayar has created updates for standards data in Alloy Finder, one of the key resources in the ASM Alloy Center Database™.
The addition of Alloy Digest will bolster ASM's existing digital products in the interactive ASM Digital Library, which includes the ASM Handbooks Online™, ASM Technical Books™, and the ASM Failure Analysis Database™. Additional resources are expected to be added to the library in 2020 and 2021.
