Lymphoma Research Foundation Hosts New York City Biden Cancer Community Summit
NEW YORK (PRWEB) September 21, 2018 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to the eradication of lymphoma – will today host a Biden Cancer Summit in New York City to explore the challenges faced by scientists seeking to pursue a career in cancer research and patient care.
The Summit, which will be moderated by Andrew D. Zelenetz, MD, PhD, Medical Director, Quality Informatics, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Chair-Elect of the LRF Scientific Advisory Board, will feature a panel of scientific experts in the field of cancer research. Former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, will host a national summit in Washington and are encouraging organizations to host their own events to join the discussion.
“The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Summit will explore the ways in which early career investigator programs both foster collaboration and advance scientific discovery,” said Foundation Chief Executive Officer Meghan Gutierrez. “Noting the pace with which research, new cancer treatments and patient care continues to evolve, innovative programming is required to adequately train the next generation of scientists.”
After the conclusion of the Summit, the Foundation will publish an action plan, highlighting the ways in which the cancer community can support early career scientists and establish national priorities to ensure sustainable support for the next generation of cancer investigators.
