GREAT NECK, N.Y., Sept. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mathnasium of Great Neck and Mathnasium of Roslyn, owned by Karen and Alan Flyer, as well as Mathnasium of Port Washington, owned by the Flyers and Suneet Jain, in an effort to make the Mathnasium program available to more students who may be struggling in math, are creating a scholarship program for students of limited resources.
The three centers are working together to offer a scholarship program for those students who need math help but may not be able to afford the program's standard tuition. Those students accepted into the scholarship program will pay only a minimal, nominal fee to attend. In total, six scholarships (or two per center) will be available for each academic year. Scholarships are available to students in grades 1-8, and are for the 2x per week program.
Prospective scholarship students will primarily be identified through their school districts as those children participating in the free and reduced lunch program. In addition to showing financial need, families will be asked to submit an application to the Program Coordinator.
While most students experience math learning loss over a normal summer, the pandemic has caused many kids to fall behind even more. New data shows reading and math scores plummeted during the pandemic - the worst reading and math declines in decades. Regionally, scores took the biggest dive in the Midwest and Northeast, where cumulative reading and math scores fell 16 and 15 points, respectively.1 That's where Mathnasium comes in. Mathnasium's personalized learning plans, plus schoolwork/homework help, are proven to improve grades and give students a head-start as they start the new school year. With live, face-to-face instruction, either in-center or online, Mathnasium serves students in grades K-12. (Only students in grades 1-8 are eligible for the scholarship program).
Mathnasium is a math-only learning center which fills in knowledge gaps, helps students get caught up or get ahead in school, and makes learning math fun. Using the Mathnasium Method™, knowledgeable instructors teach face-to-face, providing the attention and support children need. A unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques ensures that any child can learn to excel at math, whether they are behind and need to build foundational skills, or are looking for enrichment.
