MGHN to Show Newest Collection at Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019
MGHN presents its newest collection "Whoopsie Daisy" on Day 3 of Vancouver Fashion Week SS19. Inspired by the creativity and imagination of childhood hijinks and emotion, this collection takes a more playful approach to MGHN's characteristic clean lines and pop elements.
VANCOUVER, BC, Sep. 07, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MGHN will present its newest collection at Vancouver Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2019 Season (VFW). MGHN is the creative brand of local fashion designer and Vancouver Community College (VCC) alumni, Meghan Buckley.
Local fashion enthusiasts will recall MGHN's debut collection, I N I T I A L S, which was first unveiled at VFW FW18. The collection's use of oversized silhouettes and contrasting pop elements was well received and earned Buckley a scholarship from Sue Randhawa of The Optical Boutique. Building on this momentum, pieces from the collection were selected to be shown at Toronto's Urbani_T Festival and also appeared in an editorial in the Australian online publication, Stell Magazine.
With the success of her debut behind her, Buckley has been working hard on MGHN's latest collection slated to show at VFW SS19. "I want to hold true to the brand's aesthetics of gender- less design and minimalist visuals," notes Buckley. "But after having made a strong statement with the debut, I feel like I have the chance to experiment with what these two ideas mean."
The result is, WHOOPSIE DAISY, a collection inspired by the creativity and imagination of childhood hijinks and emotion. In this new collection Buckley takes a more playful approach to MGHN's characteristic clean lines and pop elements by incorporating tactile design features that are as joyful as they are intricate. Expressive colours and almost campy flourishes are complemented by clean shapes and attention to the fundamentals of fit and silhouette. WHOOPSIE DAISY represents a fresh take on the brand's mantra, showing that thoughtful design can still achieve material and emotional comfort even when expressive.
"I think I've grown quite a lot as a designer, even in such a short period of time," says Buckley. "I have a lot to offer with this brand and I hope this new collection will show people where I want to take them."
