Maria Teresa Ramos of Ramos Tax and Services Wins Daily Herald Business Ledger’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Award
STREAMWOOD, Ill. (PRWEB) October 15, 2019 -- Maria Teresa Ramos, president of Ramos Tax and Services in Streamwood and Elgin, Illinois, as one of several honorees honored during the Daily Herald Business Ledger’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards. The ceremony was held on Sept. 25 at Danada House in Wheaton.
The Ledger’s awards recognize and build entrepreneurship in Cook County, DuPage County, Kane County, Lake County, McHenry County and Will County. Honorees demonstrate the best traits of entrepreneurship, including willingness to take risk, drive, perseverance and business creativity.
The publication recognized Ramos in its Growth Category. This area focuses on honorees’ significant revenue growth over a two-year period.
Ramos Tax and Services, which is celebrating its 20th year in business, began as a family enterprise in 1999 with Maria Teresa Ramos, her sister Sandra L. Ramos-Magnani, vice president and their father Jose Ramos, co-owner. They specialize in helping clients with individual tax returns and other services with locations in Streamwood and Elgin, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin.
With the expansion of their locations, Maria Teresa Ramos said that her business has experienced steady growth that she estimates to be between 15 and 20% every year in most of their services. She has also seen a 17 percent growth in their accounting services from 2018 to 2019. There are also plans to expand, redesign and renovate its Streamwood office space.
When accepting the award, Maria Teresa offered some advice to entrepreneurs.
“I tell entrepreneurs to dedicate themselves to do the work they love and to do their best,” she said. “Do the right thing, even when the risks are high and other people may think that taking the easy route is best. Employers should also care for the needs of both of their employees and clients.”
Maria Teresa truly sees her business as a personal and valuable resource to Hispanic residents who live in the Chicagoland suburbs.
“We have people who come to our offices for things such as needing further understanding about business or government letters that come in the mail,” she said. Sometimes, we have people who want to apply for Medicaid and they need translation. As immigrants, we need resources to have in getting access to basic needs and we’re proud to help the suburban Hispanic community in any way possible. Since 1999, that’s been our goal and it will continue to be for the future.”
