BRIDGEPORT, Conn., April 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Safety Marking Inc. is stepping up to the plate for charity as Mark Kelly, Safety Marking's Founder and President, sponsors The Thomas Merton Center's event. During the "Celebrate a Day in the Life of The Thomas Merton Center" event on April 21st, Safety Marking Inc. will be matching all donations.
"It is a privilege and an honor to be able to help The Thomas Merton Center and support their important initiatives in providing food in a safe environment for those in need, particularly throughout the COVID pandemic," said Mr. Kelly.
Mark Kelly started Safety Marking Inc. in 1973 as a small, family-owned striping business. The Bridgeport based company is now known in the pavement marking industry as a pacesetting leader. Since its inception, the company's development has broadened with more significant contracts and expansions. It now offers eight major types of services in three states, including Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. Safety Marking Inc. has always prided itself on its involvement in charity work and is now giving back to the community again by sponsoring The Thomas Merton Center.
The Thomas Merton Center is a beloved organization in the Bridgeport community that extends a helping hand to those in need by providing food for vulnerable people in the community. The coronavirus pandemic did not stop The Thomas Merton Center from striving to fight food insecurity, as they continued to feed people in the area. As food insecurity becomes more prevalent, the Center has witnessed an exponential increase in demand for pantry items and hot food. Donations from supporters and charitable organizations like Safety Marking Inc. help make the Thomas Merton Center services possible.
"Mark (Kelly) has been a long-time Advisory Council member and a valuable asset to our Center. His passion for TMC translates in multiple ways of support. Not only has Mark been a major contributor over the years, but during COVID, Mark is the one who stepped up and made it possible for TMC to launch "Project Warm." This particular project was established during the winter months to serve our guests in a safe and respectful way. His input and support made this project possible to come to fruition, making it very successful and impactful. Mark's compassion and sincerity for our mission enhances the quality of services to our guests, neighbors, and surrounding community. It is my pleasure to work with Mark. On behalf of TMC staff, CCFC, and our guests, I like to thank Mark for all the years of his commitment and look forward to a continued relationship," said Bill Colson, Director of The Thomas Merton Center.
