Mark Malloch-Brown Joins United Nations Foundation Board
Former Deputy Secretary-General joins the Foundation at a pivotal time for global progress
WASHINGTON, March 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The United Nations Foundation today announced the appointment of Lord Mark Malloch-Brown as its newest Board member. An experienced diplomat and strategic thinker, he will bring valuable guidance to how the UN Foundation can support the UN in delivering progress for everyone, everywhere.
Lord Malloch-Brown served as United Nations Deputy Secretary-General as well as Chef de Cabinet under then Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2006. Before that he spent six years as Administrator of the UN Development Programme, leading the UN's development efforts globally. He also previously served as Minister of State in the UK Government's Foreign Office and as a Vice President at the World Bank.
Additionally, Lord Malloch-Brown has extensive experience in the private sector; he is currently a Senior Advisor with political risk consultants at the Eurasia Group. He has also served as Chair of the Business and Sustainable Development Commission, which worked to align business practices with the Sustainable Development Goals. He began his career as a journalist for The Economist.
