Mercy College Appoints Stuart Sidle, Ph.D., as the New Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Mercy College has appointed Stuart Sidle, Ph.D., as the new dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS). He will join the College on July 1, 2020.
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y., June 10, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mercy College has appointed Stuart Sidle, Ph.D., as the new dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS). He will join the College on July 1, 2020.
Most recently, Sidle served as the executive director of the center for teaching excellence at the University of New Haven. Passionate about excellence in higher education, Sidle takes great pride in the teaching awards he received at Saint Xavier University, DePaul University and the University of New Haven. His primary teaching interests are in the areas of organizational behavior, change management, leadership, stress management and strategic human resource development. In all of his university courses and workshops for business executives, he tries to create a learning environment that inspires respect, creativity and even some fun.

In his 17 years at the University of New Haven, he held several other roles, including the associate provost for strategic initiatives and faculty development, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, chair of the Department of Psychology and Sociology and director of the industrial/organizational psychology program. Before joining the University of New Haven, Sidle held faculty positions at DePaul University and Saint Xavier University.

Sidle is actively involved in a variety of scholarly pursuits. His research interests include the impact of leadership behavior on worker job satisfaction and job stress, leadership assessment and development, employee surveys, workplace humor, and stereotyping in the employee selection process. He has presented his research at national conferences including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Academy of Management (AOM). He has also published articles in journals such as the Academy of Management Perspectives, Organizational Research Methods, the Journal of Applied Social Psychology and the Journal of Business and Psychology.
In addition to teaching and research, Sidle provides consulting services to a wide range of companies and nonprofit organizations in areas related to managerial selection, leadership development, employee surveys, building high-performance teams and organizational development.
Sidle earned his master's degree and doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology from DePaul University and his bachelor's degree from American University.
