MetroMSP Announces Breach Prevention Platform for Law Offices, Insurance Agencies
PARSIPPANY, N.J. (PRWEB) July 16, 2018 -- To stop cybercriminals from gaining access to the rich trove of personal data handled by law firms and private insurance agencies, MetroMSP announced the release of its Breach Prevention Platform from Breach Secure Now!
Employee training forms the core element of this new security platform because it addresses the source of most data breaches: human errors. Those errors range from employees losing company laptops to staff members clicking on bogus links in emails that can infect a firm’s entire computer network with malware.
“Trained employees are better for everyone involved,” said Bob Michie, president and co-founder of MetroMSP. “Our new platform offers a great online portal for getting our clients and their employees trained to recognize and avoid the tactics cybercriminals use to breach their security.”
The Breach Prevention Platform includes a suite of cybersecurity tools ranging from automated security risk assessments (SRAs) and in-house data security policies to dark web risk analysis and employee security training. The security training empowers employees to stop hackers’ attempts to infiltrate a company’s network. It starts with an overview of security threats, such as phishing scams, ransomware, social media hoaxes, hackable wifi, etc., and that information is bolstered with ongoing lessons aimed at reinforcing the initial material.
At one of MetroMSP’s law firm clients the managing partner was able to identify a potential data breach from a vendor after completing the security training program, and made the program mandatory for all employees.
He praised MetroMSP for helping the entire staff become more aware of the various dangers cybercriminals pose to unsuspecting workers. “The training is excellent … and it will open your eyes to some important dos and don’ts ... Our business and personal information is at risk on the Internet and the training will help prepare our employees to mitigate the chances that there will be a successful cyberattack on them or upon our firm.”
“This client and others we serve would rather learn to prevent a data breach before it takes place than spend the time and money to recover data after it’s been stolen,” Michie said. “After getting onboard with the Breach Prevention Platform, more than one client has called to say, ‘You saved us!’”
Employee Security Training Can Be Fun!
Online security quizzes are proving to be a popular feature of the MetroMSP platform. After completing a segment of the training program which makes extensive use of videos, animation, and graphics to explain the basics of cybersecurity, employees take a test where they need 80 percent or better to pass. While results are kept confidential, managers can view a report showing the progress of each employee so those who need additional training can receive it.
As part of the training program, in-house simulated phishing scams are used to help inoculate employees from the damaging viruses spread by hackers. During the simulation, staff members receive emails that look deceptively legitimate and they must use their training to determine whether the message is safe to open or not.
Employees who successfully complete the security training receive a certificate to document their accomplishment. Importantly, however, MetroMSP provides ongoing training and regular updates on cybersecurity issues.
As a founding member of The20, a best-in-class group of like-minded MSPs that collectively exists to dominate the top 20 percent of the Managed IT Services market, MetroMSP leverages expertise and resources in this unified group to deliver a complete solution to clients nationwide. Michie intends to extend that reach by bringing cybersecurity training to hundreds of employees around the country.
“With our new Breach Prevention Platform, our goal is to train 5,000 employees by the end of 2018,” he said.
