Military Spouse to be Recognized as One of HillVets 100
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) March 27, 2019 -- The HillVets 100 Gala will take place on Thursday, March 28th, 2019, and is the premiere black tie event for the veteran and military community that highlights the most influential and impactful veterans, service members and supporters from 2018. The HillVets 100 includes veterans of all eras, from the Vietnam War to the more recent Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Selectees represent a broad spectrum of veterans from artists to elected officials to business executives, among others. This year’s nominees include military spouse and Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) Senior Director of National Engagement Tina Saari, who will be recognized in the category of Military Spouse.
Military spouses and families play a critical role in the defense of our Nation. With the current number of our all-volunteer force and operational tempos at a historic high, more and more has been asked from military spouses. HillVets believes it important to highlight their continued and vital commitment to service members, our Nation, and our national security.
Saari, from Fort Hood, TX, holds a BS from Texas A&M University and has worked with Veterans and families of the fallen for over 15 years. With Travis Manion Foundation, Tina manages engagement opportunities for veterans, families of the fallen, the military community, and inspired civilians nationwide, including the 9/11 Heroes Run and Operation Legacy Service Projects. As an Army aviator spouse, Tina inspires individuals to leverage their strengths and passions as they serve in their community through TMF’s mantra of “If Not Me, Then Who…” Prior to TMF, Tina worked with the National Military Family Bereavement Study as an Outreach and Education Specialist and Field Researcher. She was also a Director for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and was in charge of Ft. Hood as well as setting up regional survivor seminars and good grief camps across the country to include the summer campouts for grieving military children.

With immeasurable courage, military families rise above the adversity of frequent moves, single parenthood, and self-sacrifice in order to hold everything together while their family member serves our great nation. Their strength of character and sacrifice on the home front are attributes that can be used as the foundation for building stronger communities – both military and civilian."
Proceeds from the function will support HillVets House, the flagship congressional fellowship program, which places veterans in a congressional fellowship as an entrée into politics, public policy, and government service. In less than two years, HillVets House has assisted more than 30 veterans transition into a successful career pathway in policy and government. The event will be hosted by Rear Admiral John Kirby, USN (ret), who is a CNN Military and diplomatic analyst, and most recently served as Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs.
