Milton Hershey School, World of Outlaws, and Hersheypark Celebrate Historic and Modern-Day Racing during Hershey Sprint Car Experience
Hershey Sprint Car Experience welcomed racing fans and members of the community to Hersheypark Stadium.
HERSHEY, Pa., May 12, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Milton Hershey School (MHS), in partnership with World of Outlaws and Hersheypark, hosted the Hershey Sprint Car Experience, a free, public event that welcomed racing fans and members of the community to Hersheypark Stadium on Thursday, May 11, for an afternoon of racer meet-and-greets, antique car displays, and tours of modern sprint cars and hauler trailers.
The Hershey Sprint Car Experience combined the historical significance of racing in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with the thrills of modern-day sprint car racing to honor the 84th anniversary of racing at Hershey Stadium Speedway, now Hersheypark Stadium.
"Roots of racing in Hershey go way back to when the famous chocolatier, Milton S. Hershey, ensured that the stadium in his town be one of the few athletic stadiums in the country built specifically for auto racing," said Leslie Ferraro, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. "The first race at Hershey Stadium Speedway took place in May 1939 and today felt like a homecoming with racing enthusiasts and members of the community celebrating the sport together again in Hershey."
The event was organized by MHS and World of Outlaws, an American dirt track racing organization. Beyond the Hershey Sprint Car Experience, World of Outlaws provides the school's pre-K through 12th-grade students unique opportunities to learn about sprint car racing, engage with drivers and their crews, and explore STEM-related careers in a fun and innovative way.
"World of Outlaws' drivers go above and beyond to make their sport and passion accessible to our students," said Nadine Krempa, Senior Director of Enrollment Management and Family Relations at MHS. "The Hershey Sprint Car Experience allows us to expand the interest in racing even further, introduce MHS to the incredible racing community, and showcase all the opportunities that exist for students in the motorsports industry."
During the event, guests engaged in hands-on activities through various stations in the Stadium and were even able to complete a passport experience to meet drivers and take photos in a "Victory Lane" winner's circle holding the real trophy World of Outlaws and PA Posse drivers receive after a win.
"We have enjoyed getting to know the Hershey area and connecting with MHS students and were thrilled to engage with more of the community during the Hershey Sprint Car Experience," said Brian Carter, Chief Executive Officer of World of Outlaws. "Racing is a widely loved and appreciated sport, and we are proud to celebrate the rich history of racing in Central Pennsylvania and build upon that legacy with our drivers."
