NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mitsui Fudosan America, Inc. is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Lisa Lebofsky in the Lobby Gallery of 527 Madison Avenue through April 14, 2023. Located at 54th Street and Madison Avenue, the show is open to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The exhibit is the latest in 527 Madison Avenue's program, now in its ninth year, showcasing noteworthy emerging and mid-career artists. Organized by Jay Grimm Art Advisory, this installation is produced in partnership with Franklin Bowles Gallery.
Lebofsky practices plein air painting, which immerses the artist in the landscape outside a studio and was first popularized by French Impressionists. As part of this method, Lebofsky travels to remote parts of the world, capturing nature in her work and depicting the visceral energy of the views she inhabits. She also seeks out areas vulnerable to climate change –– including Antarctica, Newfoundland, Greenland, and the Maldives –– and spends time meeting with local residents to discuss how their community has been impacted and how conservation can play a role. Lebofsky then shares these firsthand stories in public presentations, conversations, and through her paintings in publicly accessible places such as 527 Madison Avenue. While she works on a variety of substrates, the exhibition pieces are rendered on aluminum, which gives them a unique reflective quality, making the water sparkle with realistic depth.
Lebofsky has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals from SUNY New Paltz and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the New York Academy of Art. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout New York and the world, including her most recent solo exhibition at Franklin Bowles Gallery. A recipient of several awards, Lebofsky has participated in residencies including: Shenandoah National Park, Va.; Terra Nova National Park, Newfoundland, Canada; New Bedford Whaling Museum, Mass.; Saltonstall, N.Y.; Tilting AIR, Fogo Island, Newfoundland; and Jentel, Wyo.
Currently, Lebofsky is back in New York City after wrapping up a three-year mission on the road, painting across North America to better know the changes happening in our environment and the people affected.
