Monster Energy Athletes Stomp Their Way to the Podium— Dew Tour Breckenridge Day Two: Highlights + Results
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (PRWEB) December 15, 2018 -- Monster Energy would like to congratulate their ski and snowboard athletes for absolutely destroying finals during day two of the Winter Dew Tour in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado. The action kicked off bright and early under glorious blue skies for Women’s Ski Modified Superpipe.
The athlete roster was stacked with Monster Energy athletes, including Cassie Sharpe and Devin Logan, who stomped their way to second and third respectively. Despite perfect conditions, and an expertly manicured course, the modified superpipe proved to be challenging for the field of eight women, as none of them were able cleanly land all three of their runs.
Pyeongchang Winter Olympic gold medalist, Sharpe, squeaked into second place position with her last attempt of the day, which was also the last run of the contest. She put down a backflip from the fin, to back-to-back 900s and a flair in the pipe section, to a 360 at the bottom in the tombstone section. Judges award her an 84.67 for her efforts.
“The first few days were pretty rough for me, but once you got the hang of [the course] and pump your landings and be creative, it became really fun,” Sharpe said following the event.
Logan, two-time Olympic silver medalist, came out swinging on her second attempt and put down a run that included: back-to-back 540 japans, and a 450 out of the pipe to the roller. Judges awarded her 71.00, which sealed the deal for her to take third place.
“I ski both slope and pipe and this course definitely played to my advantage,” said Logan. “But it was just different than I expected. Once I found my line, I was like, okay, let’s have fun, and I think my skiing showed that,” she continued.
Fellow teammate, Brita Sigourney, also skied well, and claimed fourth place.
Early in the afternoon, the Snowboard Team Challenge took over the modified slopestyle course, with Sebbe De Buck earning an 87.33.00 on the jibs for Team DC, who took the win with a combined score of 254.33.
Fellow Monster Energy teammates, Rene Rinnekangas and Ståle Sandbech, helped Team Rome place third with their super stylish runs in the pipe and jib sections.
Closing out the second day of the Dew Tour was the Streetstyle Finals with none other than, Rene Rinnekangas, taking first in the snowboard division. His ultra smooth, technical runs secured his big win.
The last contest of the night saw Colby Stevenson take second in Ski Streetstyle Finals. The amped up crowd was sprawling in the streets of Breckenridge for the high-intensity event.
In Snowboard Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Monster Energy’s Jamie Anderson claimed fourth place. Anderson attempted several progressive tricks on the jumps, but bobbled on her landings, and had to settle for a place outside of the podium.
