SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce the launch of its newest resource, the MoFo NDCal IP Resource Center. This site provides insights on the judges, trends, and decisions for intellectual property cases for the last five years in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ("N.D. Cal."), which is widely regarded as a destination district for high-tech and life sciences related intellectual property (IP) disputes.
There have been approximately 1,400 patent cases, 1,150 copyright cases, 90 trade secrets, and 1,050 trademark cases filed in N.D. Cal. in the past five years. The San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose divisions handle all of the intellectual property cases.
MoFo's resource center is searchable by judge, party name, and case dates, and covers claim constructions, Section 101 motions, summary judgments, and verdicts. It includes an interactive map about each of the divisions, including specific information on the judges. The resource center also provides additional information regarding insights into the Northern District's approach to intellectual property cases and links to resources, such as local rules and model protective orders.
MoFo has a long and proud track record in N.D. Cal., litigating landmark IP cases through verdict in all three of its divisions. In the past 15 years, the firm's lawyers have handled more than 220 cases in N.D. Cal., including many seminal IP cases that have shaped the high-tech, life sciences, and consumer products industries.
"Morrison & Foerster is the go-to law firm for clients with complex, high-stakes matters in U.S. District Courts, including in the Northern District of California," said Michael Jacobs, co-chair of Morrison & Foerster's Intellectual Property Practice Group. "We developed the NDCal IP Resource Center as another way to bring value to our clients and others interested in learning more about the Northern District."
Matthew Chivvis, a partner in Morrison & Foerster's Intellectual Property Practice Group, added: "Our NDCal IP Resource Center is extremely user-friendly and will appeal to those looking for information about judges and cases. The ability to quickly search by case result without a paid subscription makes this a highly valuable resource."
