NB Private Capital Adds Staffing to Sales, Accounting and Asset Management Teams

As Senior Vice President of Accounting, Jennifer Welker rejoins many of the associates she had previously worked with at the company’s predecessor, Nelson Brothers Professional Real Estate, where she was controller for six years. According to Brian Nelson, founder and president of NB Private Capital, “Welker is a welcome addition to the staff, bringing both a familiarity with the entire executive team as well as an in-depth knowledge of the company’s books and records.” Welker worked as Director of Finance at Buy.com, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC and, more recently, as Vice President of Accounting at The Picerne Group. She has a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in accounting from San Jose State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
In his role as Senior Vice President of Asset Management, John T. Burns brings over 30 years of real estate experience to the company, specializing in the commercial retail sector. Before joining NB Private Capital, Burns was Vice President of Portfolio Strategy, a privately held retail owner/developer located in Orange County, California. He has developed and executed business plans, adding value to the assets through strategic planning. His experience also includes working with REITS and the oversight of internal property management departments supervising all areas of responsibility. Burns has been a member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for over 25 years. He graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and is a native of Southern California.
In the newly created position of Corporate Accounting Manager, Mark Antoun brings more than 10 years of experience in budgeting, accounting and operations. He began his career as a night auditor with Perflag Hotels LTD in London and quickly moved up the ranks to a property accounting supervisor responsible for overseeing eight staff accountants. During his tenure, his position entailed training, creating and developing processes and the implementation of accounting procedures. Most recently, he worked in accounting and management positions for SmartStop Assets in Ladera Ranch, California. At NB Private Capital, Antoun will manage the preparation and delivery of corporate annual reports, monthly investor distributions, daily accounting including accounts payable/receivables, cash management and budget and forecast analysis. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Alexandria University in Egypt and has an MBA from Preston University in Alabama with an emphasis in marketing.
Joe Maymo has joined the firm as Vice President, Capital Markets for the Northeast region of the U.S. In his previous positions, Maymo worked in high-level executive roles as Regional Vice President at Nationwide and Transamerica Financial. His 19-year career as a financial services professional includes the wholesaling of variable annuities and mutual funds to the independent broker-dealer channel, along with more than six years of wholesaling publicly, non-traded REITS and Regulation D offerings. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 1997 and also holds his Series 7, 65 and 63 licenses.
