MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) publicly announced today that it's own Chairman and President, Greg Deeds, will again Chair the National Drone Safety Awareness Week (DSAW), now established to be an annual industry event.
Mr. Deeds is the founder of Technology Exploration Group, Inc., an award winning Silicon Valley based company that designs and engineers Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies and consulting across a variety of industries, including aviation and drone technologies. In its role as a member of Steering and the Communications Chair for the FAA's Unmanned Aircraft Safety Team (UAST), Technology Exploration Group will again lead the effort along side FAA staff and stakeholders.
Last year the FAA, in concert with industry stakeholders from the UAST, launched this effort and the inaugural event was a huge success, bringing together industry stakeholders from across the United States. Last year's Drone Safety Awareness Week Voluntary Tracking Tool (VTT), developed by Technology Exploration Group, registered 128 events in 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico with over two million social media impressions reported. Stakeholders range from commercial entities, to universities and even programs aimed at early STEM education. The UAST is one of four FAA safety teams in the United States. It was formed as an industry / government partnership in 2016 under the direction of then FAA Administrator Michael Huerta.
Silicon Valley AUVSI is an award winning California non-profit corporation focused on professional development and education. The organization produces a variety of workshops, competitions, and large scale events focused on delivering outstanding value to its members.
National Drone Safety Awareness Week will kick-off the week of November 16, 2020 and conclude November 22, 2020. Each day will focus on safety focused topics, including topics ranging from safety for recreational pilots and professional 107 pilots to how to start a public safety drone program for your organization.
