National Society of Collegiate Scholars Announces Advisor of the Year Awards
NSCS honors outstanding advisors making a difference on college campuses across the country.
WASHINGTON, May 19, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), today announced the recipients of their National Advisor of the Year awards and Regional NSCS Chapter Advisor of the Year awards. Dr. Pamala Heard from Jackson State University has been named the Laura Taddeucci Downs National Advisor of the Year. Dr. Heard serves as the Director of Honors Student Services and Activities.
"Dr. Heard has been an amazing advisor this year for our chapter of NSCS. We faced many challenges with this unprecedented year, but through it all, Dr. Heard was consistently organized, goal-oriented, and encouraging. As Chapter President, I can attest to the support and leadership she offers and whole-heartedly believe that she is more than deserving of recognition," said Jackson State President Jamee McAdoo.
NSCS also announced its regional advisor of the year award recipients. They are Ms. Nisrine Smith, Strayer University (Region 1), Dr. Darlena Ciraulo, University of Central Missouri (Region 2), Mr. Christopher Woodward, Full Sail University (Region 3), and Dr. Ryan Zimmerman, Weber State University (Region 4).
Other special advisor awards announced include: Co-Advisor Team, Dr. Reneta Lansiquot and Prof. Tamrah Cunningham at New York City College of Technology, New Chapter Advisor, Dr. Laura Craig at San Diego State University, and Founding Chapter Advisors, Ms. Annette Williams Fields at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Ms. Terra James at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and Ms. Kim Retzlaff at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

All recipients of this honor are NSCS advisors who continuously displayed strong leadership and unwavering support and dedication to their NSCS chapter over the past year through coaching and mentoring student officers and chapter members to embody the society's pillars of scholarship, leadership and service.
