WASHINGTON, June 19, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), announced the Diamond Chapter Winner and Platinum Chapter Winners of the year. The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire has been named the Diamond Award Winning Chapter of the year. The achievement of Diamond Star status is highly coveted among our 320 plus chapters throughout the country, and to say the competition was rigorous would be an understatement. Similarly, the achievement of Platinum Star status is a great honor and only bestowed upon nine chapters nationwide. All of the awards are based on a careful review of applications submitted to demonstrate a high level of achievement and activity within the honor society.
As the only chapter to receive this elite national distinction, the chapter at The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire truly embodied the NSCS pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service. Their application stood out among the candidates for several reasons including their professionalism in the application, their ability to conduct meaningful events like a community food drive, and for providing tangible benefits to their members through professional development events.
"I am proud of the 220+ student clubs and organizations on our campus but the NSCS stands out for me because of the contributions its members have made to our campus and our community," said Chancellor James C. Schmidt. "I have been impressed with the range of service opportunities that the chapter offered to its membership this year, especially during a year when our university and the nation grappled with pandemic constraints."
NSCS also announced its platinum chapter winners. They are California State University San Marcos, Delaware State University, Ferris State University, Grand Canyon University, Jackson State University, University of Louisville, University of Central Missouri, University of Missouri, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
"We are especially proud of this year's chapter winners because they have overcome tremendous challenges in light of the pandemic. From attending school remotely to having to recruit and make chapter activities still happen, we are in awe of their hard work. These chapters exemplify the best of what It means to be an NSCS scholar," said NSCS Executive Director Scott Mobley.
All recipients of this honor are NSCS chapters that have continuously displayed strong leadership and provided community service and networking opportunities. They have successfully sustained an outstanding level of engagement, fundraising, recruitment and more. Over the past year, these NSCS chapters have embodied the society's pillars of scholarship, leadership and service through programming and events.
