Ned Monroe Selected as Newest Chair of the Global Vinyl Council
President and CEO of the Vinyl Institute has been selected as the Chair of the Global Vinyl Council.
WASHINGTON, July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Vinyl Institute announced today that its President and CEO, Ned Monroe, will chair the Global Vinyl Council (GVC), a coalition of national vinyl trade organizations that advocate for the PVC industry around the globe. This appointment coincides with ongoing negotiations by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) to address plastic waste.
"The need for a unified global vinyl industry is greater than ever," said Ned Monroe, president and CEO of the Vinyl Institute. "In the leadup to the next UNEP discussions on the globally binding plastics waste agreement in Nairobi, the GVC must organize and advocate in support of the critical uses of PVC."
Monroe's appointment as Chairman comes at the perfect time for the GVC, as the global PVC industry readies itself for the conversations in Nairobi, Kenya later this year, set to occur from November 13-17. In addition to his continued leadership of the Vinyl Institute in the United States, Monroe will help lead the educational efforts of the GVC during the United Nations' meetings. Monroe and a delegation from the Vinyl Institute attended the last round of UNEP meetings in France and they will participate in Nairobi as well.
