New Assistive Technology Course Available Online
Micro-credential will prepare teachers to meet the needs of all students
HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Teaching Things, Inc. today announced a new partnership with New Jersey City University (NJCU) to bring comprehensive courses and assistive technology (AT) to the OTIS for Educators online professional learning platform.
With the OTIS for Educators (https://www.otispd.com/) Assistive Technology (AT) Micro-Credential, educators have access to courses that focus on the evolution of AT, federal laws, needs assessment, technical, and pedagogical uses in the classroom, and equity and ethical concerns. Upon completion of these courses, educators will not only be knowledgeable about AT but also have the skills to implement AT in a way that best meets their students' needs.
"As a former educator, with a master's in special education, I can't express enough the importance of assistive technology for students with varying abilities," said Chrissy Rebert, VP of Global Instructional Solutions at Teq. "With this partnership with NJCU, we have created a dynamic micro-credential that leverages everything you need to know about Assistive Technology in the classroom."
Donna Breault, Dean of NJCU's Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education noted "We know that teachers' effectiveness is measured by the degree to which they can reach and teach all students. Assistive technology helps teachers reach learners who might otherwise struggle. This micro-credential offers essential tools for teachers, and we are thrilled to partner with Teaching Things, Inc. and this valuable resource, OTIS for Educators."
Schools or individuals subscribed to OTIS for Educators will have complete access to these courses. In addition to receiving a micro-credential for completing all of the courses, educators will have the opportunity receive CEUs or graduate credits from NJCU.
