New and improved Nissan Leaf coming in 2019
DAYTON, Ohio, July 24, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 2018 Nissan Leaf didn't do as well as expected, and so Nissan took it back to the drawing board. According to Nissan officials, the new 2019 Nissan Leaf will feature a long-range Leaf E-Plus trim, which will offer up to 200 horsepower, and give a range of over 200 miles. This sets it high on the scale of range in terms of an electric vehicle!
It's the sort of performance and range that puts the Nissan Leaf on par with the Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model 3, making it a ground-breaking electric car for Nissan. Affording to Nissan's Director of EV marketing, Brian Maragona, the E-Plus will use a larger overall battery than the current model, giving it this excellent range.
With this increase in power and range, the new Nissan Leaf is expected to see a far larger portion of the market, which is a good sign. The original Nissan Leaf launched in 2010, and has sold over 320,000 copies since, but has fallen hard behind the competition.
The new 2019 Nissan Leaf will also offer a ton in terms of technology, including a 7.0-inch instrument cluster display, a rearview camera, a Bose® audio system, and a ton of driver's assistance technologies. The available ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous drive system will also be returning to the new 2019 Nissan Leaf.
The new Nissan Leaf doesn't have a solid release date, but dealerships are keeping their ears to the ground for more information!
