New book follows stories relating to religion, work, relationships and identity
Michael Fridgen announces publication of 'To See a Narwhal'
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In the new book, "To See a Narwhal" (published by Archway Publishing), author Michael Fridgen navigates the complicated institutions of religion, work, relationships, and identity, attempting to seek happiness in the real world.
The book presents four stories in alternating chapters. Fridgen's story takes place in small town Minnesota and all of the other characters are in his mind. The fantasy world of Indiana Jones and Egyptology stars Dr. Nicholas Wells, while another world Fridgen created as a teenager is about a gorgeous man named Jack Harman and his sexual love affair. The fourth story involves the character Nikail, who is a mixture of the world of Star Wars and the character He-Man.
"Life is hard for everyone. Yes, growing up gay in a religious small town is hard — but everyone faces trauma in modern society," Fridgen says. He adds that "it's okay to not be okay."
