New novel in murder mystery series follows immunologist Jessica Shepard to Ireland
Carol Baum announces publication of 'Murder at the Castle Wakes Up the Dead'
GREENWICH, Conn., Sep. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Immunologist Jessica Shepard and narcotics detective Alain Raynaud investigate a murder at a castle in Ireland, but secretive locals and ghosts of the past hinder their search in Carol Baum's new mystery novel: "Murder at the Castle Wakes Up the Dead: A Jessica Shepard Mystery" (published by Archway Publishing).
Dr. Jessica Shepard, an immunologist and amateur detective of mysterious murders, travels to a coastal Irish hostelry to meet a television producer and a screenwriter interested in her past exploits. A death occurred at Castle Ryan in Victorian times and one happens during Jessica's stay there. With the help of her frequent partner in investigation, Inspector Alain Raynaud, Jessica must learn how the two deaths are related in order to solve them.
"The book has a romantic setting, interesting mysteries, and colorful characters whose deepest feelings about love, death, career, and relationships are explored during the solving of two mysterious deaths—one from long ago, one current—and considers how literary aspirations of female writers have evolved over time and how they have remained the same," Baum says about her book.
