Nick Houseman Independently Publishes First Book
Business aviation executive and entrepreneur channels creative energy into writing suspense novel
MONTREAL, Sept. 04, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Nick Houseman, Co-Owner and Board Member of Elit'Avia and Founder of Zenith Jet, today announced the publication of his first novel Old Country Wounds on Amazon.
Old Country Wounds is a story of revenge. The protagonist, James Sutherland, leaves working-class Scotland in 1960 to build a new life in Canada. Over time, he amasses a fortune in the Alberta oil business. Caught between his homeland and his adopted country, James struggles with family tragedies back home. Having retired, he returns to Scotland and uncovers a dark secret that leads him to mastermind a high-stakes vendetta against the powerful family that he blames for his own family's hardship.
"My mother's side of the family is Scottish, and I left Scotland for Canada as a young man but that's where the similarities end – the rest of the book is pure fiction," explains Nick Houseman.
"A theme that I wanted to explore in the book is probably quite common to many immigrants. It has to do with letting go of the past. At what point do you cease to be from the 'old country' and truly identify with your 'new country'? I've wrestled with that question for years and I'm sure I'm not alone."
"Large parts of this book were written on long-haul flights from North America to Europe and Asia. I wanted to find a creative outlet and being stuck on long flights afforded me the time and uninterrupted solitude to write."

About Nick Houseman
Nick Houseman was born in Singapore to an English father and a Scottish mother. His father was in the Royal Air Force and the family moved frequently, also living in Scotland, Malta and Germany. As a young man, Nick moved to Canada, first settling in Edmonton, Alberta and later in Montreal, Quebec, where he attended McGill University (BA, Economics and Political Science, 1997) and Concordia University (MBA, 1999). Upon graduation, Nick began a career in business aviation, starting with several management roles at Bombardier Aerospace, followed by launching Zenith Jet in 2008 and then becoming co-owner of Elit'Avia in 2011.
