Non-essential Travel: The First Business Casualty of the Coronavirus
AP Now releases results of a poll to measure business sentiment regarding the impact of the coronavirus on business travel and organizational policies. It was conducted during the last week in February and the first week in March of 2020.
NEWARK, Del., March 11, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- AP Now just released the results of its Business Sentiment: Coronavirus Travel and Operations Policy Adjustments Poll. The results show the business community is taking the threat of the coronavirus seriously. Almost half of the respondents (42%) have already created guidelines to limit all but essential travel. Another 14% were in the process of creating such guidelines when the survey was conducted.
The poll to measure business sentiment regarding the impact of the coronavirus on business travel and organizational policies was conducted during the last week in February and the first week in March of 2020. The purpose was to gauge how organizations were adapting to the threat of the coronavirus. The advice contained in this report is the best available at this point in time.
The most common strategy, used by almost half the respondents, was to encourage online rather than in-person meetings. This was followed by the 38% who have already restricted all but essential travel.
"We plan to repeat this poll in another month or so," says AP Now's founder, Mary Schaeffer, "if market conditions warrant it. Unfortunately, I fear they will although, this is one issue I'd love to be wrong about."
The results were compiled into a short report that was shared with all survey participants and is available for sale on the organization's website. The report also includes strategies in use by several survey participant companies and Workplace advice from health organizations. Schaeffer discusses the results in the current episode (Episode 49) of the AP Now podcast. In that 13-minute discussion she also shares some of the results from a related poll on Remote Workers. Data for that report was collected a little over a year ago.
