Nuvision Credit Union Launches Program to Help Low-Income Students Through the COVID-19 Crisis
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (PRWEB) April 19, 2021 -- Throughout the Coronavirus crisis, Nuvision Credit Union has stayed dedicated to its core mission and values. For over 85 years, Nuvision has been serving the hard-working people who are the backbone of our country; now, they are helping the next generation get through the COVID-19 crisis.
Through their NuvisionCares initiative, a program that helps hard-working people get back to work by providing much-needed income to small business owners, Nuvision Credit Union is helping Think Together’s Shalimar Learning Center raise funds for families who have lost their income during the COVID-19 crisis. Throughout June, Nuvision will be collecting non-perishable food and goods like household paper goods, diapers, and formula. The items will be donated to families with students enrolled in the organization’s afterschool programs.
For over 25 years, the Shalimar Learning Center has been providing a safe afterschool place for kids to get help with homework, prepare for college, and set themselves up for future success. The Shalimar Learning Center serves low-income families and students; people who work every day to build a better life for themselves.
Many of the parents of these students are hourly workers — housekeepers, gardeners, restaurant workers, and hotel personnel — without severance benefits. When the Coronavirus crisis hit, many of them went from working full-time jobs to being forced out of work.

“When we heard Shalimar Learning Center’s story, we knew we had to help, and we knew our NuvisionCares program was the way to do it. Since the crisis hit, Nuvision has provided almost 10,000 meals to frontline healthcare workers and has helped 14 small restaurant owners stay in business and provided paychecks for their hard-working employees. We hope extending our NuvisionCare’s program to the Shalimar Relief Fund can make a huge impact on our next generation and help see them through the crisis.”
