Object Management Group Releases Two New Specifications and Issues Digital Receipt RFP at Q1 Members Meeting

NEEDHAM, Mass., April 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, issued one new Request for Proposal (RFP) to create a new digital receipt standard at its quarterly members meeting, which took place from March 18-22, 2019, in Reston,Virginia. The meeting was sponsored by IBM Watson IoT, Micro Focus, No Magic, Red Hat, RTI, and Sparx Systems.

The Digital Receipt API v1.0 RFP seeks submissions for API specifications that support sharing complete digital receipt data in a secure manner, translate the existing ARTS Digital Receipt standard to JSON to support cloud computing and smartphones, and specify a common core of data elements, such as date, time, location, and items purchased, which can be enriched and extended in a standard fashion with local requirements.

Both members and non-members of OMG can participate in the process by submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) by June 21, 2019. Submitting a LOI is not legally binding and does not commit an organization to being part of a submission team. In order to become a submitter, individually or as part of a submission team, companies must become members of OMG by the initial submission deadline currently set to August 12, 2019.

The OMG Board of Directors adopted the following standards:

• The FIBO® 2.0 specification contributes to transparency in the global financial system, which aids industry firms in providing a cost-effective means for integrating disparate technical systems and message formats, and aids in regulatory reporting by providing clear and unambiguous meaning of data from authoritative sources.
• MOF™ to RDF Mapping provides a lightweight bridge, allowing a MOF-based model (which includes UML® and SysML®) be complemented by an equivalent OWL ontology. The MOF to RDF Mapping transformation provides the necessary trace-back elements to keep both models aligned.

Voting by the Platform Technical Committee is underway to adopt the Automated Source Code Quality Measures to extend their applicability to embedded software. Functionality that has traditionally been implemented in IT applications is now being embedded on chips, which is especially important for the growing implementation of embedded devices and the Internet of Things.
