IRVINE, Calif. and LOVELAND, Colo., June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ophthalmic Instruments, Inc. (OII), a leading distributor of quality ophthalmic instruments, today announced their support of the 1st annual Steps 4 Sight 5k Fun Run/Walk benefitting individuals with vision impairments. The Run for Sight event is being held by the Ensight Skills Center on Saturday, June 8th in Loveland, Colorado.
Vision loss has many causes. Some of the most common causes of vision loss are degenerative eye diseases like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. In most cases, there are no medical treatments that will bring vision back. This is when visual rehabilitation services can help optimize the use of remaining vision through training and adaptive aids. The mission of the Ensight Skills Center is to provide people with low vision the tools, counseling, and training that empowers independent and productive living.
"We are extremely happy to support such a worthy cause," said Scott Shone, president of Ophthalmic Instruments, Inc. "Vision loss can make tasks like reading, cooking, and socializing with friends and family very difficult. Ensight Skills Center's visual rehabilitation services can help optimize the use of remaining vision through training and adaptive aids. We are glad we can participate in helping these individuals regain and preserve independence and quality of life."
