PacStar® Announces Launch of PacStar 451 Server with Intel® Xeon® D Processors for High Performance Edge Computing
PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) October 09, 2018 -- PacStar today launched a new generation of PacStar 451 small form factor servers – providing a major leap forward in computing capability while retaining industry leading size, weight and power and ruggedness. The new server provides up to three times more CPU cores, up to twice the RAM, and up to ten times the networking throughput compared to the prior generation PacStar 451, enabling a wide array of advanced edge computing. The solution will be demonstrated at AUSA, which takes place October 8-10, 2018 in Washington DC.
The US DoD desires to take advantage of new developments in analytics, AI, cloud, software defined networking, IoT and cybersecurity and needs to enable those applications for tactical programs, not just DoD enterprise. Yet, increasingly, the DoD is planning for cyber and electromagnetic warfare that threatens availability of communications between the expeditionary edge and large enterprise datacenters. The new generation PacStar 451 enables deployment of applications at the edge, ensuring warfighters have access to advanced technology even when in a disconnected, intermittent and limited environment.
This new PacStar 451 is equipped with Intel® Xeon® D processors providing either 8 or 12 physical CPU cores, up to 64 GB RAM, 10 Gig SFP networking and 8 TB SSD and is capable of hosting a vast array of applications, virtualized network functions, storage, analytic and cybersecurity technologies. PacStar 451 delivers this performance in a 2.5 lb., MIL-STD tested platform for flyaway, command post, ground vehicle and aircraft applications.
