Pet Wants Cranberry Announces Campaign to Help Animal Friends
Pet Wants Cranberry is announcing a campaign to help Animal Friends generate much needed pet food donations. For each pound of dog food that a customer donates on the Pet Wants Cranberry website, that business will match the donation with dog or cat food for the Animal Friends shelter on Camp Horne Road and their Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank.
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa., April 5, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pet Wants Cranberry, a local, nutrition-focused, pet food business, and Animal Friends on Camp Horne Road announced a campaign to help drive food donations for the animal shelter.
"The COVID-19 crisis has had a dramatic impact on daily operations at Animal Friends, but we remain committed to providing daily essential care to our more than 270 animal residents and working to sustain our most critical and lifesaving programs" said Cody Hoellerman, Director of Communications for Animal Friends. "Our Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank typically distributes pet food to 32 local food pantries and Meals on Wheels programs, serving nearly 2,000 struggling families each month. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, we have seen a drastic increase in the need for this program. We've added three new pantries to our distribution list, and we are receiving five times our average number of calls for help. We have begun distributing food directly to individuals who have the greatest need – on top of supplying food to our pantry partners. As this crisis continues and impacts our region more and more, we want to continue to be there to help hungry pets – but we can't do it without your support."
Animal Friends often runs events to generate donations to support the shelters activities. "Coronavirus has impacted everyone, shelters included. Without events to raise funds, shelters like Animal Friends can run low on essentials, like food. Animals are counting on us not to forget them." said Diane Johnson, Owner of Pet Wants Cranberry.
Pet Wants Cranberry and Animal Friends on Camp Horne Road were starting to do events together to generate food donations to the shelter just when Coronavirus began. "We were so excited about the events we had planned, and then those events had to be postponed indefinitely. But the need for fundraising didn't go away." So Johnson reached out to Animal Friends and asked if they could get creative to keep donations coming to the animals that needed food. The Buy One/Give One campaign was born.
"When customers shop on our website, they have the option to donate a pound of dog food to Animal Friends on Camp Horne Road. For every pound of dog food that a customer chooses to donate, Pet Wants will match that donation with a pound of dog or cat food. I have great faith that our community will respond," said Johnson. Those who are interested in helping can go directly to the Pet Wants Cranberry website, http://www.petwants.com/Cranberry, and select the Buy One/Give One option in the Dog Food section.
Pet Wants Cranberry is able to continue to offer free local delivery during the stay at home request from Governor Wolf. "We understand that people in our community, and around the world, are doing what they can to stay healthy, but we also know that people still need pet food, treats and other supplies. We will be continuing to offer online ordering and free local delivery services for our customers. While there are other companies that offer delivery services for their pet products, we are small enough to be able to limit who touches an order, ensure that we are keeping packages as germ-free as possible, and respond quickly," Diane said. "We use a no contact delivery approach to keep our customers safe."
Pet Wants' carefully developed pet food is made in small batches, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. There's no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products. Also, since Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes, the food is a great fit for pets with allergies. Pet Wants only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice and other ingredients available. Pet Wants also offers treats, SPaw products and other supplies. Pet Wants Cranberry serves communities north and east of Pittsburgh, such as Sewickley, Cranberry, Zelienople, Mars, Wexford, the North Hills, Oakmont, Plum, Monroeville, North Huntingdon, and Greensburg.
Hoellerman also wants the community to know that "Financial donations are also appreciated … $1 can provide four meals to pets in need."
About Pet Wants:
Pet Wants was started by Michele Hobbs out of love for her pets and frustration. Veterinarians were unable to help relieve her dog's painful skin allergies. After doing much research, Michele discovered the national dog food brand she trusted was not fresh, not all natural, and lacked sufficient nutrition...and when pet food sits in warehouses and store shelves for months and months… it loses even more nutritional value. She was committed to developing a better solution for all dogs and cats. Their food is exclusively crafted… fresh, healthy, slow-cooked and all natural with no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products. They source only the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients. Fresh ingredients make for better food… and better health for pets. And since they never use corn, wheat, soy or dyes, the common pet health problems associated with these ingredients are no longer worries. Their fresh food is conveniently delivered to the customer within weeks of production, not months. Roughly half of Pet Wants products are sold through their store and half through their convenient, home-delivery program. You can learn more at http://www.PetWants.com.
