The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program at Pharma-Medical is accredited diploma program by Accreditation Canada (https://accreditation.ca/educational-programs/). The diploma program is designed to develop competency-based objectives and implements learning activities to ensure that all the competencies in the competency profile for the sonographer profession are taught. The program's objective is to develop full theoretical and clinical competency in the field of cardiac sonography/ultrasound. Students will start with classroom learning from quality instructors, then gain extensive on-site laboratory experience utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and participate in clinical training with affiliated clinical agencies. The program aims to ensure students gain the knowledge, skills and behaviors defined in National Competency profile (NCP5.1) to successfully enter the sonography/ultrasound field.
Upon successful completion of this diploma program, students will be eligible to write the Sonography Canada's certificate examination. After passing the exam, graduates will be able to registered with College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) and practice as a cardiac sonographer in Ontario. The Pharma-Medical graduates achieved excellent pass ratio in the 2019 May exam.
