Pico Union Project’s 5th Annual ‘Faithsgiving’ Celebration!
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) October 24, 2018 -- “Over here at the Pico Union Project we’re so excited about Thanksgiving, we’re going to start the neighborhood appreciation and festivities two days earlier,” said Lauree Martin, Manager of the PUP.
The Pico Union project has always taken the phrase “love thy neighbor” and put it into action. For the 5th straight year, they will be opening their doors and their hearts to the community in an afternoon event that will include magic, food, games, art projects and live music from the band Mostly Kosher and others. Last year also had special guests show up including MG Studios, De Aztlan Group, KYCC, Good Samaritan, elected officials including Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, Councilmember Gilbert Cedillo, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, and over 50 volunteers, as well as appearances from local law enforcement and firemen – so we are expecting the same type turnout this year. And who knows who else will show up? Lebron James, maybe??!! Who knows? We asked him.
The turkeys have been donated by a variety of sources, supplying us with enough food to provide to the residents who may not otherwise be able to afford them. We’re guaranteeing the giveaway of 500 turkeys, but our aim is close to 800 this year. Along with other produce that will be handed out, the event on November 20th will assure many families in our neighborhood of having a great Thanksgiving by helping them celebrate one of America’s biggest holidays with an abundance of food.
The Pico Union Project is a multi-faith, multicultural center housed in the 1909 original home of Sinai Temple. PUP has ongoing regular community activities that include a bi-monthly farmers market, live concerts, and arts programs. This classic building has been a part of the area for over 100 years, and the culturally diversity of the location makes it the home of the Word of Encouragement Church, the Kwang Yum Community Church and also brings over 300 people together each year from across LA for Jewish High Holiday services.
