Portland NAACP Partners with The Studio at North Rim to Produce Live Webcast Fighting Racism
In their first ever webcast, the Portland Chapter of the NAACP is partnering with The Studio at North Rim to address issues affecting Africans Americans and Communities of Color in the Portland Area.
PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "We live in dangerous times," declares E.D.Mondaine, President of the Portland NAACP in a recently produced video promoting his upcoming webcast 'Removing the Thorns.' Broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube Fridays at 10am, Mondaine says 'Removing the Thorns' is "a response to the rising tide of hatred and bigotry taking root in our communities like a virus."
The webcast is named after the NAACP's upcoming Gala event 'Removing the Thorns of Racism in the City of Roses' to be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Portland, October 5th from 6-9pm. The decision to promote the fundraising event with a six-part webcast series came after a visit to a local studio in S.E. Portland called The Studio at North Rim, where Mondaine met with Program Director Adam Klugman.
"As soon as I walked into the studio and talked to Adam, I saw the opportunity," Mondaine claims. "I wanted to do more than have just another fundraiser this year. I told Adam people need talk about what's going on in our city around race. Adam just looked at me, smiled, and said, 'You're in the right place.'"
The Studio at North Rim is a three-camera, high-definition broadcast studio capable of streaming live to YouTube, Facebook as well as posting to popular podcast venues like iTunes and Google Play. "We're small but mighty," Program Director Adam Klugman says, "and we're incredibly proud to be working with the NAACP on this project."
Each week, Mondaine will interview city professionals and ask them the hard questions about the policies, the programs and protections Portland is implementing to safeguard the safety and well-being of all its residents. "I want this show to be a stand we all take to hold or city accountable," Mondaine declares. "This is our moment to be heard. To demand Portland be a city where all people, of all colors, and all orientations, are safe, and free, and loved."
Klugman agrees. "What E.D. Mondaine wants to do is important. And he's a great host. It's going to be a really powerful show. We're glad The Studio at North Rim can be here to support him."
