Quantum Spatial to Highlight Emerging Topobathymetric LiDAR Applications at EnerGIS
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (PRWEB) April 24, 2019 -- Quantum Spatial, Inc.(QSI), the nation’s largest independent geospatial data firm, today announced that Mike Fuller, QSI’s director of Energy Solutions, will share insights on the potential of topobathymetric LiDAR applications for the energy sector during EnerGIS. The conference, which is produced by the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter, takes place April 25-26 in Canonsburg, Pa.
“Traditional LiDAR sensors and data are commonly used by energy sector. However the rapid advances in these technologies – including the emergence of topobathymetric LiDAR – are providing new and exciting applications for exploration, production, pipeline and electric utility professionals,” said Fuller, who also serves as chair of the Emerging Technologies Advisory Council for GITA.
Fuller’s presentation, "Topobathy LiDAR Technology & Emerging Energy Applications,” will take place Friday, April 26 at 11 a.m. During it, he will discuss how topobathymetric LiDAR sensors work, their capabilities and limitations, and traditional use cases. Fuller also will detail the benefits of emerging energy sector applications, including:
- Analyzing volumetric capacity of fracking ponds
- Pipeline water crossing inspections
- Shallow water bathymetric data capture for offshore exploration and production
- Alaskan ice road path and water source planning
- Hydroelectric permitting and maintenance
- Aquatic species habitat analysis and restoration
