ResumeBuilder.com Survey Reveals 89 Percent of Union Workers are Job Searching, and One-Third Admit to Quiet Quitting
American union workers believe going above and beyond at work has no personal benefits and disrupts work-life balance
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 21, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ResumeBuilder.com, the premier resource for free and professional resume templates, has published a recent survey report that examines the level of engagement among union workers. This report also highlights leading factors that influence job performance. The study generated responses from 1,000 American union workers.
Survey results indicate that 4 in 10 union workers identify as quiet quitters, a 36 percent of respondents say they only do the required work. Additionally, 6 percent of workers say they do less than what is required on the job. More than 60 percent of workers, who are quiet quitting, say they do just what they are paid to do or are 'acting their wage.' Respondents also cite additional reasons, such as lack of personal benefits and disruption of work-life balance.
The study also shows that the majority of union workers, 86 percent, believe coworkers do not exceed expectations at work because the union provides added job security. Most union workers who underperform or just meet expectations are concerned about losing their jobs. Seven percent of respondents from this group say they are extremely fearful of losing their jobs, and 31 percent are somewhat fearful.
According to the report, 89 percent of union workers are job searching. Sixty-four percent of respondents say they want better benefits, and 59 percent want more money. Similarly, 43 percent of employees would like to work for companies with more reasonable expectations. Although most union employees are dissatisfied with their current roles, 96 percent say union membership is essential. Ninety-two percent of respondents also say they care a lot about their work, and 89 percent desire to advance in the company.
