SOMA Shakes Up The Hair And Skincare Industry By Revolutionizing The Shower Experience
The new SOMA shower filtration system cares for skin and hair health like no other product on the market.
TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SOMA is turning heads in the beauty and skincare industry with their revolutionary shower filtration system, removing harsh chemicals and introducing nourishment.
It doesn't take a decade of working in the beauty industry to recognize that hard water is damaging to hair and skin, and that is precisely the problem Stephanie Karellas, owner and master stylist at Kroma Salon, set out to solve amidst a global pandemic in 2021.
Stephanie is a testament to business excellence, and unparalleled drive. Getting her start as a stylist in northern GTA nearly a decade ago, her ambitious, entrepreneurial spirit quickly motivated her to create something of her own. At just twenty-four years old Stephanie opened Kroma Salon in King City, Ontario, a modern, up-scale salon that quickly gained popularity in the area.
As a true industry student, Stephanie began connecting the dots once customers were leaving the salon feeling fresh and fantastic, only to come back several weeks later with their hair colour appearing flat and dull.
Whether the source is groundwater in a rural Ontario town, or water mains in downtown Toronto, the water delivered to homes has varying levels of contaminants and chemicals like chlorine and fluoride that impact skin and hair health.
"I found a problem, and I was determined to find a solution. Purified shower water is the foundation to a healthy hair and skin-care routine, and that's exactly what I wanted for myself and my clients," says Stephanie Karellas.
The SOMA shower filter is a water filtration system that can protect hair and skin from dryness and irritation by eliminating chlorine and contaminants from the water. It is a perfect solution for Hair Salon customers who want to hold on to their vibrant colour even longer.
This isn't the first time Stephanie and her team have adapted to meet the needs of their customers. In 2020, the hair industry was hit hard by COVID-19. A series of closings, reopenings, and new safety measures limited Kroma's ability to provide the level of service they were so well-known for, and left their future uncertain. The team at Kroma saw an opportunity to help their customers look and feel their best, right from their own homes. Kroma launched an online store offering delivery and curbside pickup, and a video tutorial series showing proper treatment methods, best practices, and new techniques.
When asked about her motivation to build SOMA during a pandemic, Stephanie says "I had been thinking about creating SOMA for quite some time by then, but it was my experience needing to launch an e-commerce store in three weeks, which helped me feel this product could come to life."
"What I want people to know about SOMA is that it's not just a water filter, but it's a part of something bigger. It's for people who want to think differently about the way they treat their body; the things we put in it and on it." - Stephanie
The team behind the brand has pledged a percentage of every sale to a charity near and dear to Stephanie, Jack.org. "As a stylist, I have always aimed to help people look and feel better on the outside, which I know can sometimes lead to feeling better about themselves. With SOMA, we wanted to be sure that we were making a difference; that is why there was no better partner for us than Jack.org, a charitable organization helping youth feel better on the inside through so many different initiatives."
