Saint Luke's Hospital Achieves Joint Commission Certification for Spine Surgery Program
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) July 03, 2018 -- Saint Luke’s Hospital today announced that its spine surgery program has achieved certification by the Joint Commission, the nation’s leading health care accreditation and certification organization. Led by faculty of Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute (SLMBNI), Saint Luke’s spine program is now the only program in Kansas City to earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Spine Surgery Certification. The program also is designated as a Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery.

Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute has been recognized as one of the nation’s top 50 neurology and neurosurgery programs by U.S. News & World Report. A recent five-year gift commitment from the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation will enable SLMBNI to establish a Spine Center of Excellence and continue to provide close-to-home access to world-class care in Kansas City. The Saint Luke’s Spine Center provides a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to spine care, offering treatment for patients with all types of spine issues, including neck, back and sciatica, with conservative to high quality, complex surgery.
To achieve The Joint Commission certification, Saint Luke’s Hospital underwent a rigorous, onsite survey, during which a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated compliance with standards, clinical guidelines and outcomes of care. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help hospitals measure, assess and improve performance. The certification is awarded for a two-year period.
