School Bus Logistics Adds Route Logistics Manager, Melissa Western, Who Brings Extensive Knowledge of Transfinder Software
Western will provide increased knowledge around one of the industry's leading softwares as well as a high level of customer support.
DENVER, Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- School Bus Logistics, LLC, the leader in logistics consulting and support to school districts across North America, has added a new route logistics manager who will specialize in Route Management Services. Established in 2010, School Bus Logistics (SBL) has helped school districts optimize routing to aid in budgetary efficiencies and safe transportation of school children.
The new hire, Melissa Western, brings vast experience and expertise to the already knowledgeable staff. She will help SBL to continue growing their client base and provide the personalized route management SBL is known for.
With more than 11 years of experience in the pupil transportation industry, Western has in-depth industry knowledge as well as an understanding of day-to-day operations. Her career was primarily with Douglas County School District (DCSD) in Castle Rock, Colorado, the third largest district in the state. At the time she left DCSD, Western held the title of Lead Transportation Scheduling Coordinator and was responsible for assigning, coordinating, and overseeing all transportation operation services including special education, general education, and activity/field trips and routes.
During her career, she has worked in the evaluation and reporting of metrics for bus safety, bus capacity, utilization, and on-time service for 250+ routes. She has also served as a liaison to the terminals, schools, and communities to provide positive customer service regarding bus routes including schedules and stops. Western has provided mentoring and training of transportation and district staff for new software programs and ensured that route schedules complied with union contracts.
Western holds an official Routefinder Pro Certificate from Transfinder and is proficient in the software. According to the Transfinder site, "Certification is an extensive exam that challenges users knowledge of Routefinder Pro, Transfinder's flagship product used to create school districts' bus routes." About 50% of SBL projects utilize Transfinder which is also their preferred platform for districts who do not currently have a software in place.
"Bringing Melissa onto our team will continue to elevate our offerings. Her working knowledge of the industry, and one of the top routing softwares, aligns with the level of understanding and service that we are always striving for." says Robert Jacobus, CEO and founder of SBL.
SBL plans to attend several trade shows this year including the April CASTO Conference in Anaheim, CA. During these events, they will showcase Route Management Services which provide districts with complete turn-key routing with a focus on improving customer service to schools and families.
