The innovative, patent-pending product fits nearly all toilets, operates without electricity and securely mounts directly onto the toilet, supporting up to 80 percent of the user's weight during the lift.
Sixty percent of injury-related emergencies are caused by falls, with 80 percent of them occurring in the bathroom. Many of these accidents often happen during transfers on and off the toilet. Within three years, SedMed had transcended its origins as a design project boosted by robust financial support. The company has since secured over $1 million in funding, including $931,000 raised in a seed round, led by Connecticut Innovations, along with an additional $115,000 in grant funding from organizations like CTNext, FORGE, the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, UConn IQ, and the UConn School of Engineering.
