Sensors Midwest Declared a Successful Third Annual Event
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (PRWEB) October 31, 2018 -- Sensors Midwest (#SensorsMW18) has been confirmed a success by drawing in nearly 2,000 engineers and engineering professionals from across the Midwest marketplace this October 16-17 to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Throughout the event, attendees experienced the latest sensing technology and products from 50+ exhibitors, education programming in Theater Sessions on the Expo Floor, networking events with colleagues, engaging and interactive panel sessions, and were able to browse the aisles of the SMTA International Expo Floor.

The Exhibits
Some of the industry’s top solution providers exhibited at Sensors Midwest – from Coto Technology, to Trafag, to Powercast Corporation – who showcased the latest trends and offered solutions necessary to continue growth within the sensors industry. The show floor boasted other top companies including SMART Microsystems, TT Electronics, Thales, and Kaman Precision Products, amongst many others that drew in top level engineers seeking solutions. Also co-located with SMTA International, the breadth of technologies covering the show floor was evident from attendee’s transparent enthusiasm.

Education Highlights
All Sensors Midwest Attendees were able to participate in the 2018 Education Program, composed of Theater Sessions on the Expo Floor. This year featured seven all-new tracks including Data & Analytics, IIoT, Machine Learning, Sensor Technology, Sensors At Work, LiDAR, and Predictive Maintenance & Condition Monitoring.
Along with our theater sessions, Sensors Midwest featured the following engaging panels and Workshop:
The Women in Sensors Engineering (WISE) Panel celebrated women engineers including an inspirational panel sharing their experiences and advice for aspiring female engineers and allowed the opportunity to exchange new ideas with Q&A, share best practices and challenges, and help further innovation. Panelsists included: Dr. Jennifer Bonniwell, Dr. Aleksandra Egelja-Maruszewski, Elsa Madrigal, and Dr. Elina Vitol, with moderator, Carol Smith. “Often times, people say there needs to be a balance between home life and work life, but it’s all just life. You must find harmony and happiness within all aspect of your life in order to succeed to the best of your ability,” advised Dr. Elina Vitol, Scientist, NALCO – an Ecolab Company.
The Future of Engineering Education Panel provided attendees with an insight into the current status of engineering education and its challenges with a well-balanced panel of professionals and academia. Panelists Included: Bilge Altay, Robert Atac, Dr. Eric Baumgartner, Amy Bridger, Jaligama Sravani, and Ozgur Yavuzcetin, with moderator, Roger Grace.“Being able to mentor and provide hands-on experience for those who are seeking a career in this field is the best way to prepare them. Knowing that academia is starting to put this method to use is reassuring to those who weren’t able to have this experience before,” stated Bob Atac, Vice President & General Manager, Thales Visionix.
IoT Enabled Industry 4.0 Certification Workshop ensured attendees would leave with a strong understanding of Industry 4.0 and how it can be used to solve business problems and deliver higher value to customers. "Thanks to Sensors Midwest for hosting such an incredible IIoT workshop, bringing together and creating ecosystems among Industries, researchers and IIoT consultants," said Professor Shivakumar Mathapathi. In conjunction with Sensors Online, Sensors Midwest announced the winners of the Best of Sensors Midwest – Editor’s Choice Award during the show. The awards were hand selected by Executive Editor, Mat Dirjish, with exhibitors’ products and technology on display.
