Seton Hall Law Now Accepting Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
NEWARK, N.J. (PRWEB) October 17, 2019 -- Seton Hall University School of Law is pleased to announce that it is now accepting the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) in addition to or in place of the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) for J.D. admissions.
Dean Kathleen M. Boozang believes this expanded approach to standardized testing will further the school’s mission. “We strive to eliminate the obstacles that can prevent talented people from having the transformative educational experience that Seton Hall Law provides. Accepting the GRE joins our other efforts in this regard, including our tremendously successful weekend JD program.”
The GRE is an accepted standardized test for admission into many fields, including business, computer science, and engineering. With this new policy, students who have already taken the GRE can now avoid the expense of taking the LSAT. The cost savings is most likely to benefit applicants who are interested in pursuing interdisciplinary graduate education.
According to Dean Boozang, “Law can be a very welcoming field for those with interdisciplinary backgrounds, particularly those with STEM degrees, but the act of transitioning to law school can seem so daunting that the value of the law degree gets obscured. We hope that accepting an interdisciplinary test will allow more people to see that a law degree will enhance their careers, particularly those who may not intend to use the degree to practice law.”
Assistant Dean of JD and Graduate Admissions, Issa DiSciullo, shares, “Decisions like these make me value Seton Hall Law’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. The practice and profile of lawyers today continue to evolve. Therefore, it is important that our admissions process does the same and opens the opportunity of law school to a broader array of students.”
Even with this change, Seton Hall Law’s approach to admissions will continue to consider a combination of factors beyond standardized test scores, including competitive academic records, relevant experience, and character.
