Seventh Sense Consulting Appoints Shakira "Shak" McCants Executive Vice President of Corporate Development

WOODBRIDGE, Va., May 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Seventh Sense Consulting, which provides Enlightened Solutions that Deliver Lasting value in the areas of acquisition, program management and workforce development to the federal government, announced it has appointed Shakira "Shak" McCants as their Executive Vice President of Corporate Development.

Ms. McCants is a results-driven professional with over 15 years of experience in project management, operations management, strategic planning, employee management, business development and capture management. She has a demonstrated track record to drive revenue growth, qualify, capture and win new projects through delivery excellence and identifying and transforming clients' business needs into valued solutions.

During a recent interview in celebration of Women's History Month in which the theme for 2019 is "Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence," Ms. McCants, also fondly known as Shak, was asked who has been her most influential professional mentor. Shak responded, "As cliché as it may sound, my mother has been my most influential mentor. Before she retired, my mother was an Executive Director for a major corporation in Mobile, Alabama. Growing up in the deep south, you didn't see too many women in leadership positions, but I knew from about age eight that I wanted to be a 'businesswoman'. I didn't know what that really meant, but I knew I wanted to wear a suit and carry a briefcase to work. Growing up, I was able to attend a few conferences with my mom. I would sit in the very back of the room and watch her on stage while she commanded the attention of a male-dominated audience. She stood tall and was bold, and I knew that I wanted to do the same. What I learned from my mom is that I can be and do anything as long as I do it with integrity, confidence, and respect others. My mom would say, "Don't think you are better than anyone else. Just focus on being the best version of you, and the rest will work itself out." I have carried those words with me through my career. Prior to joining Seventh Sense Consulting, Ms. McCants served as Director of Business Development for the Civilian Division at E3/Sentinel where she led growth through business development and capture activities for federal civilian clients. At Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Shak managed the business development efforts for 22 rental branches and conducted business to business sales and managed a book of business worth 5.5 million per year.

Ms. McCants earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama.
