Shari Belafonte Film "Plastic Daydream" to Air Nationwide on ShortsTV Network
Broadcast Television Premiere of Filmmaker Kathy Kolla's Drama on October 28 to Coincide With Release of First New Shari Belafonte Single in 30 Years
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Entertainment legend Shari Belafonte brings new content to both screen and speaker with today's announcement of a film deal with the ShortsTV network coinciding with the news of her first new music release in 30 years. Belafonte both stars in and produced filmmaker Kathy Kolla's new drama "Plastic Daydream," in addition to singing the end-title song "Time Stand Still," which will be released alongside the movie's television premiere. The song will mark Shari Belafonte's first new single since 1989's "Give a Little Love."
"Plastic Daydream" premieres on ShortsTV on Monday, October 28, the same day "Time Stand Still" will be released for streaming and digital download across various online platforms.
Belafonte is currently a cast member on the upcoming Apple TV+ program "The Morning Show" alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. With four decades of experience in Hollywood, Belafonte is also known for her work in film and television including roles on genre-defining "Hotel" and "General Hospital." As a model, she has graced the cover of leading fashion magazines, including five covers of Vogue.
"Plastic Daydream" features Belafonte as troubled and aging Hazel Montgomery, a woman desperate to turn back the clock with additional cosmetic procedures. In Hazel's quest for perfection, she ultimately undergoes a life-altering incident. The surreal – and at times unnerving – motion picture was directed and co-written by Kathy Kolla, whose previous feature film "Who Is Billy Bones?" received national broadcast distribution on the KCETLink cable network.
The breathtaking culmination of "Plastic Daydream" is highlighted by the jazzy end-credits composition "Time Stand Still," which showcases Belafonte's vocal talents in French, as a reflection of her character Hazel's harrowing experience. The song was co-written by Belafonte with songwriter-producers Drew Milford and Nick Gomez, in addition to co-writer Olga Martin.
"Plastic Daydream" was produced by Belafonte with Cola Kat Productions and actor Kash Hovey, who also stars opposite Belafonte in the film as the unpredictable character James. With a successful film festival run, the project garnered notable accolades for Belafonte and Kolla, with awards for best actor and director, respectively, given by the L.A. Live Film Festival last year.
