Surveillance Company Deluxe CCTV Inc. Announces Top Three Reasons People Install Hidden Cameras
Surveillance equipment can be utilized in instances of abuse and infidelity
ROSEVILLE, Calif., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Deluxe CCTV Inc., a video surveillance equipment company that has the largest selection of covert surveillance equipment available in North America, has released its top three most common reasons why people install hidden cameras.
The need for installing a hidden camera on your property can vary, but having been in the covert surveillance equipment for 19 years, Deluxe CCTV Inc.'s CEO, Dustin Dalton, determined it would be important to share how these devices can help protect people.
"Chances are that if you need a hidden camera, it is to keep an eye on something serious you suspect may be happening. It could be to protect your property, yourself, or others, and in some situations, it could even be a matter of living freely or dealing with abuse, or even life or death," Dalton said. "Though the need to install any sort of camera – from security cameras to hidden cameras – isn't always the most pleasant topic to think about or discuss with family or friends, the fact of the matter is that sometimes it is necessary."
Here are three of the most common reasons.
1. Child Abuse/Neglect
In 2015, approximately 1,670 kids in the U.S. passed away as a result of neglect and abuse, according to the National Children's Alliance. Furthermore, around 700,000 kids experience abuse every year, and Child Protective Services protects roughly 3 million kids.
To compound just how unfortunate it is, approximately four out of every five of those kids abused are abused by their parents, according to the National Children's Alliance.
Needless to say, if you suspect something, it is best to take action. Take this scenario for example: A concerned mother shares custody with her ex-husband of their two-year-old daughter. The mother is worried about how the daughter is being treated by her ex-husband. So, she sets up a portable hidden camera. When she reviews the footage, she is mortified. The daughter had been placed in a room for 8-9 hours with no food and water. Her ex-husband was verbally abusive to her and borderline physically abusive. The footage is enough to get a court order for full custody for the mother.
2. Elder Care Abuse
Americans are living longer thanks to advancements in health and technology. In fact, there are around 35 million people in America who are over the age of 65, according to ABC News. For comparison's sake, in 1900, that number was approximately 3.1 million. Abuse can be the unfortunate result of a mix of a lack of training, being understaffed and overpopulated. In fact, around 1 in 10 Americans over the age of 60 have dealt with some degree of elder abuse, according to the National Council on Aging.
In some cases, these elderly people may not be able to communicate as effectively as they used to. When this happens, they are unable to tell their loved ones about any potential abuse that may be happening at the hands of a caregiver. If there are unexplained marks or bruises on a loved one that has been under care supervision, and a clear communication barrier is occurring, it may be time to purchase a hidden camera to see what is going on.
Doing so can sometimes result in an abuser being caught and fired, which will help put the patient and family more at ease, as well as protect other elderly people.
3. Infidelity
What causes people to cheat on their spouse? It is a topic that has been widely researched. It may be jealousy, it may be lack of affection, it may be income disparities – it could be for many reasons.
Some reports indicate that around 41 percent of marriages have at least one spouse that has engaged in an emotional or physical affair.
What do you do if you suspect your spouse of cheating, but are not willing to confront them about it? A hidden camera may be what you are looking for.
A hidden clock camera, for example, could be placed in your home while you are away on a business trip. In some cases, if it turns out your suspicions were accurate and the spouse did have their cheating partner over, the footage that was captured could be used in divorce proceedings.
"No one should have to go through any of these situations, but unfortunately, these are the three most common instances we see as a company. These situations can have a lasting impact on individuals and families. The more proactive you are at stopping something you suspect may be going on, the quicker it could come to an end though," Dalton said.
