Sylvan Learning Announces Plans To Open Six Locations in Turkey
Sisters Ceylan and Gonca Duru have an exclusive partnership to introduce Sylvan to Turkish students and their parents.
ISTANBUL, May 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sylvan Learning, the leading provider of supplemental and enrichment education for students in grade K-12, has formed an exclusive partnership with Ceylan Duru and her sister Gonca to open the 750-plus-unit franchise's first locations in Turkey.
Five satellite locations offering STEM classes are scheduled to open in July, with the main center in Istanbul — offering a full program of learning services, including tutoring — slated to launch in September.
Born and raised in Turkey and educated in Switzerland and the U.S., the entrepreneurial, multilingual sister duo decided to capitalize on their passion for education and what they saw as a gap with after-school education in Turkey.
"Not only does Sylvan offer a strong program that supports professional private tutoring, there aren't any education centers here that are licensed in the U.S., so there's really no competition," Ceylan said. "We're really excited to be the first to offer this program here in Turkey."
Initially catering to students ages 6 to 13 with a focus on STEM education, the program will quickly ramp up to offer a breadth of Sylvan services to older students up to 18 years old, including reading, writing, math, SAT and ACT prep, study skills and advanced reading — programs designed to challenge students, build confidence, boost skills and help deliver better grades.

As a mother to a nine-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son, Ceylan and her sister, who has a 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old-son, were especially impressed with Sylvan's customized style of teaching.
