Synapse Technology Granted Foundational Patents for Automating X-Ray Security Systems with Artificial Intelligence
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed three core patents that serve as the basis for applying artificial intelligence to X-ray security systems.
PALO ALTO, Calif., Mar. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Artificial intelligence security and defense company Synapse Technology has been granted foundational patents that serve as the basis for developing artificial intelligence based automated X-ray security screening platforms.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Synapse Technology two core patents: Detection of Items (US9996890B1) and Generating Synthetic Image Data (US10210631B1). A third critical patent has also been recently allowed by the USPTO. Together, these three patents serve as the basis of an artificial intelligence threat detection platform to be used on security X-ray machines.
Synapse Technology's platform can automatically detect weapons, knives and other threats at airports, concert venues, schools and anywhere large numbers of people gather. The Syntech ONE AI software overlays onto existing security screening X-ray machines, acting as a second pair of eyes to assist checkpoint operators and learning to recognize new threats as they appear. The technology, which has already been used to process more than five million bags, is used at venues in the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia, where it has caught numerous sharps, firearms and other threats that operators would not have otherwise detected. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recognizes the value of Syntech ONE and has granted Synapse Technology Corporation a SAFETY Act award for its technology platform.
