TEL Education Launches Micro-Collegiate Academy to Provide Online and College-Credit Options for High School Students and Families
Micro-College Academy is a new option for micro-schools and families looking to help their high school students kick-start their college careers while completing their high school requirements.
NORMAN, Okla., Sept. 1, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- TEL Education, a non-profit organization specializing in online courses for early college high school, is launching the Micro-Collegiate Academy, an affordable, turnkey solution that allows micro-schools, homeschool co-ops, and other organizations to offer a collegiate academy experience for grades 9-12. With support from the Charles Koch Institute, TEL will be providing 50% scholarships for students enrolling the 2020-2021 school year.
As students and families look for options to traditional high school, many are turning to micro-schools, learning pods, and independent learning options such as homeschool co-ops. TEL Education created the Micro-Collegiate Academy to provide an equitable option that offers all families and their students access to a high-quality and rigorous curriculum at an affordable price.
TEL's Micro-Collegiate Academy provides a scaffolded online curriculum that prepares students for college-level work and gives them the opportunity to earn up to two years of college credit, with an associate degree option, by the time they finish their high school studies. The program includes complete curriculum options for grades 9 and 10, as well as a comprehensive college-credit sequence that students can begin as early as the Spring of their 10th-grade year. Micro-Collegiate Academy offers course sequences and degree checklists for 10th and 11th grade students, as well as course bundles for 12th graders. College-credit courses in the program include all materials, instruction, technology, and support.
College-credit courses are provided under the direction of York College, a four-year, private, regionally accredited Christian college located in York, Nebraska. Students will receive an official college transcript for their college coursework.
Registration opens Sept. 8 and will go through October 12, 2020. Visit our website, http://mca.tel-education.org for program details, including costs.
